Who We Are
VBSPCA Adult Volunteers are 18 years or older, are out of high school and have a desire to help with a variety of needs throughout the shelter to support our animals. Adult Volunteers are able to both work as a team and independently for as few 3 hours a month or as often as they would like. Volunteers will be able to bend, squat, stand, twist, and lift for extended periods of time when volunteering, and have regular access to the internet and an email address.
What We Do
Our Adult Volunteer Program is designed to provide a fulfilling experience for volunteers while also serving the needs of the organization. After appropriate training, VBSPCA Adult Volunteers are able to:
- walk dogs and assist in the kennel
- assist in the cattery to feed and socialize our cats
- assist with clerical and customer service tasks
- provide home-based foster care
- assist at partnering PetSmart cat adoption centers
- work with children and animals through our Humane Education Department
- visit residents at nursing homes through our Visiting Paws program
- provide transportation for our animals to-and-from the shelter
- help out at fundraising, awareness, and adoption events
- and more!
